UHC Fully Insured Incurred Reporting Starts May 2010
Beginning May 10, 2010, UnitedHealthcare will start reporting fully insured claim information on an incurred
basis in order to align with their underwriting practices. This change will only affect fully insured business
and the reports produced using Employer eServices® Customer Reporting.
The following improvements will become standard practice:
- Incurred claims reports will tie back to fully insured renewal calculations.
- Incurred based reporting provides a view of claim activity that will allow customers to evaluate the impact of plan design changes made as of a specific month.
- Incurred based reporting provides the most accurate reflection of how the group’s experience is actually trending.
UnitedHealthcare recommends that you and your clients produce and store copies of any paid based data you
may wish to retain prior to May 2010. The ability to view paid based data for fully insured will no longer be available starting May 10, 2010.
Employer eServices Customer Reporting classes will be offered in May and June to provide customers with an
overview of the upcoming enhancements as well as the latest report addition, Premium vs.
Claims report with Incurred but Not Reported Information (IBNR).
